Potential recruits and job seekers have been complaining for years about the hiring process of companies, specifically about the time spent wondering if a company they applied to was going to hire them or not. However, on the other side, hiring managers also complain about the labor-intensive and time-consuming hiring process. Many have to parse through and review days’ worth of resumes and CV’s that might not even be eligible. The extremely competitive nature of the job market forces recruiters to hyper-focus on efficiency during the hiring process to secure top candidates and avoid losing them to other employers. Furthermore, to attain efficiency many have opted to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) in their recruitment process.

In recent years, organizations that started automating their talent management processes, mostly by the use of software like applicant tracking systems (ATS), remote testing, and appointment scheduling systems, etc… nowadays, are finding new opportunities for automation through the use of AI. By providing a specific set of data to the machine learning capabilities of AI, recruiters can train it to efficiently and quickly finish laborious tasks. The potential AI has to assist HR departments is massive, whether they would be writing job descriptions for a future job opening, or parsing through hundreds of resumes, eliminating hours of labor work for the hiring manager. The integration of AI software will push forward HR technology to a new era, ultimately transforming and changing the hiring process.

Can AI Replace Existing Systems

Old ATS systems have long been used to complete the labor-heavy task of parsing through resumes that “wasted time”. ATS software is simple, it takes information from both the job’s needs to match with the information that the candidate would provide. However, it’s extremely easy to cheat the system, since its only concern is the percentage of matching words and sentences, which can be manipulated by potential candidates. Besides, ATS software sometimes can’t even recognize certain writing styles, formats, and mistakes that job seekers can make, making it hard for everyone. New AI software bypasses human error and manipulation, and AI won’t only match keywords, it will also analyze resumes and identify qualified candidates.

Advanced AI technology can also identify potential recruits before they apply by using predictive analytics to search a candidate’s skills, previous experience, social media profile, and online behaviors, to match them to job postings without the perilous task of looking for jobs.

Moreover, AI can also be used to clarify, and answer questions job seekers might have when interested in a job posting. New AI chatbots, like ChatGPT, can instantly connect with candidates and offer additional information on the job responsibilities, and company culture, and even guide people through the recruitment process without bothering the hiring managers. Allowing recruiters to better manage their time by automating repetitive tasks and reducing overall labor costs.

How to Incorporate AI Technology?

As the demand for AI technology increases, many organizations have presented different types of software and AI services that are currently accessible to everyone:

Beamery

Beamery is a new tech startup that leverages an AI powered talent-graph. The startup realized that the marketplace is in constant need to hire, manage and retain high-quality talent, so they created a system that assists organizations in quickly identifying potential candidates that are likely to thrive at their organization by analyzing data points from across the internet and the technology of the employers’ organization.

Manatal

Manatal, a UK-based company, uses artificial intelligence to help you search through resumes and CVs and based on your personalized needs, recommend you potential recruits. It pinpoints the most suitable candidates and lets recruiters customize fields and searchable criteria. The Manatal AI engine is also able to score results based on multiple data points that are provided.

HireVue

HireVue incorporates an AI system that allows you to structure your interview to ensure consistency in new and inexperienced hires. The large data set of interviews the company has, allows its AI to predict high-quality candidates and potential opportunities in companies. By joining HireVue, people looking for job opportunities will have to record a video answering a set of questions, which will then be assessed by the in-house AI system to determine eligibility.

Toptal

Toptal is a remote company that provides a platform for companies and freelancers to showcase talent and job opportunities. They provide a personalized screening exam, where they test for candidate’s personalities, language, and skills, which they then send to their private AI systems to screen and choose the best talents.

ChatGPT

People might wonder how using ChatGPT might make the hiring process smoother. Well for a while now, talent management teams have been using ChatGPT to help them write comprehensive and easy-to-understand job descriptions. Companies have optimized revenue by using ChatGPT to write job descriptions helping recruiters save money and time. Service providers like ResumeBuilder are also opting to use ChatGPT in future endeavors since the data and research on its usage in HR are so positive.
